Oh I almost forgot!!!
Last weeks Tropical Storm Irene had some benefits!!! I got to spend part of the afternoon with the amazing Katie Kingsbury! she taught me how to make my own fruit fly traps! It has been a crazy year for them and those little traps you buy are expensive so here are the details to make your own fruit fly traps CHEAP!!!!
I used a small wine glass (I am thinking this will lure the little pests even more!!!)
fill it 1/3 full of Apple Cider Vinegar... Katie says to microwave it a few seconds, it is suppose to make the cider sweeter. Cover glass with clear plastic wrap and poke 2 holes in the top.
I am on day 3 of my new trap and can not believe how many flies it has trapped!!! LOVE IT!! Thanks Katie!

I wouldn't be surprised if this blog goes unread... I haven't checked in in ages. I am happy to say I am still living the frugal life style! I continue to make my own laundry detergent, it is cheap, lasts a very very long time and it works great! If you missed it or I just plane forgot to give the recipe here it is:
1 box 20 Mule Team Borax
1 Box Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
1 bar Fels-Naptha laundry soap grated fine
Mix contents together and call it good.... I also like to go to the dollar store and pick up a container of their Oxy clean knock off and add that to the detergent. The scoop that comes with the Oxy is a perfect size to use for your measure spoon. You do not need more than that! It is a fantastic detergent, no perfumes or other unwanted "things" but has a fresh scent to it!!!

I do continue to make my own granola... I Love it! and recently I have been trying to master the life of a crazy couponer.... that takes some lessons from the experienced I must say! but I did set up my coupon binder which if for nothing else I have easy access to my well organized coupons now! It makes a difference!

Since my last post we have welcomed another beautiful little Grandson into our family! Oh what amazing Joy to be a Grandparent!!!! We finally got to meet Liam the end of June when our Son brought his family back east for a very short busy week.. yes it went way to fast and they had to spread themselves pretty thin. Looking forward to seeing our son again next month as he is coming back to shoot a friends wedding! Our youngest Son has moved out into his own place, it is bitter sweet, I am glad to see him spread his wings and fly... and it isn't so bad having an empty nest!
I am so glad I get to see him at the gym on a regular basis!

Ok that just about catches you up! try the laundry detergent!!!! until i find my way back here again!!!!!

I was more blessed than I imagined I would be. the First workshop I attended was titled Family Frugality and Stewardship! Nicki Shearer was VERY informative and gave a list of resources and tips so we wouldn't have to try to write everything down! She showed us how to make laundry detergent and shared things that work for her and her family. I have to say I walked out of there with my thinking changed! I planned a menu, made a list, printed coupons from and went to the grocery store. I purchased pot roast on sale for $1.89 a pound and came home and pulled out the grinder that I have NEVER used that came with my Kitchen Aid mixer and made my own hamburger! Not only was it cheaper BUT I have ground round that is lean because I trimmed the fat off my self and it is NOTHING more... if you know what I mean. One of my favorite things is granola in my yogurt for breakfast, It can be expensive soooooo today I made my own, not only was it cheaper but it is delicious. Nicki said she NEVER buys Chicken unless it is on sale! so that is exactly what I am going to do too. is Nicki's blog, check it out for some great info.
Homemade Granola
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup canola oil
2 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 cups rolled oats
1/4 cup of sesame seeds (I used flax and raw sunflower seeds
3/4 cup chopped nuts of your choice
3/4 cup shredded unsweetened coconut (I used sweetened because that is what I had)
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup cherries, chopped dried apricots or dried cranberries (or a combination)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare a high-sided cookie sheet or a lasagna pan with parchment paper, oil or butter.

Mix honey, maple syrup, oil, water, vanilla extract, cinnamon and salt in a bowl and set a side.

In a large bowl, combine the liquid mixture with the dry ingredients except for the dried fruit, and mix until everything is coated with the honey mixture. Spread the mixture evenly over the prepared baking sheet. Bake for about 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, until the granola is golden brown. Baking time will vary, depending on the depth of granola in the cookie sheet or pan.

After the baking is complete, add the dried fruit.

Allow to cool, store in jars
Makes about 6 cups

I can not believe how fast the time flies....
As of this date we have finished "The Way Of Agape" at Thursday Bible Study, This book has profoundly effected each of us, well me personally. Thank YOU JESUS!
Last week we began a new Study called "Secrets of the Secret Place. Keys to Igniting Your Personal Time with God" by Bob Sorge So far we have read in Chapter 1 "The Secret of Saying "YES". The author says he us "absolutely convinced the power of heaven is unlocked on earth when we devote ourselves to the secret place of the Most High." (Psalm 91) He implores us to say YES to a daily fervent pursuit of Jesus in the Secret Place. We are encouraged to go to that secret place for renewal and refreshing, not the television. "Even attending a church service in the hope that the preacher's walk with God will infuse us with fresh energy for the journey." Sermons and teaching will edify us but they can never replace the carrying power we find when we sit at His feet and hear His word for ourselves" the author goes on to day that when we learn to dwell in the secret place of the Most High, we are positioning ourselves to discover the key to true kingdom fruitfulness! (page 5)
When you have spent time with the Most High, He will speak to you in a personal way that will be exactly what you need... not what you want mind you BUT He will grow you and bring you to exactly the place He wants you. The Scripture that I continue to get over and over is Prov 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight"NIV

Praise the Lord Spring is here! It has been a long cold winter and I am great full for so many things, one being the wood stove we put in, they are so much work but I love wood heat, I would probably not say that if it was my only source of heat but we saved a fortune in Oil this heating season. Splitting, hauling and stacking wood has been an activity Jeff and I have done together, turns out he REALLY loves when I help with that! who would have guessed?
I talked to Terry Washburn last week, She is leading Women's Ministries in Nebraska!!! I say PRAISE THE LORD! They are also calling themselves the YAHWEH SISTERHOOD! Isn't that great?! Of course Mike was the one who came up with the name so we must share!!! I suggested Terry get "THE WAY OF AGAPE" for a bible study, we are in chapter 15 after a year+ but I think we go a chapter forward, two chapters back! This is deep deep stuff and I personally want to get God's Love deep inside of me so that it is not me you see but Jesus! I have a long way to go.
Many of you know I am a Grandmother now!!! WOOOO HOOOOO! I am so blessed by this little man! He is beautiful and happy and healthy and strong! My son and daughter In-law are really wonderful with him and it is so beautiful to watch them love on my Grandson! They are very good parents, I am so happy they had 3 good years of marriage before children entered their family, It is important to have that time of bonding together and becoming one before children enter. Please pray for them as they adjust to being parents and a family.

Today I spent the entire day cleaning my son's old bedroom that then became my sewing room that is now organized with my computer, day bed and reading nook. I love that feeling you get when you have sorted through and organized a space. Clutter is like a dark cloud that hangs over you... opressing until you just can't take it one more second and the cleaning begins. The work is rewarding especially when that oppressive dark cloud is GONE! So as I wright this I am sitting in a new space that inspires me to bask in the Joy of the Lord!!
Today I am greatful for clean rooms, books and cool air!

It wasn't really that long ago we had snow on the ground. I was convinced that we would still have snow on the ground BUT God keeps the universe running as it has for years and for that I am greatful.
I have been doing alot of thinking about "The Way of Agape" This bible study is not fot the faint of heart, It is deep and complex and will change you if you let it. By letting it I mean actually read the book and allow the Holy Spirt to bring about the changes that will enable us to give up the "self life" and become one minded with the Father. This is not an easy process but it is a process. I have not claimed to be perfect...far from it, but I am greatful each day for this study, as painful as it is at times!!! So press on Girls...

Hi Ladies, For those of you who were in attendance at the brunch Saturday, you know I received a TXT message from Jeffrey, telling me he got hurt! PRAISE THE LORD he had his helmet on because he flipped over the handle bars and landed in the soft mucky ground right on his head! The helmet cracked but not Jeffreys skull!!!! His neck is sore but nothing is broken or fractured!!!!! Jeffrey defies death once more! ( Thank Ya Jesus!!!!!)

It has been ages and ages since I have blogged anything. Part of the reason is I couldn't remember how to get into this site!!! I am a little challenged in all this Techie stuff! So let me catch you up to date.
Women's Ministries has been studing " The Way Of Agape" by Nancy Missler. What a life changer. We have been in no hurry to complete this study because it is so rich and full of the deep things of God. I personally have grown and been challenged in ways that I could not have comprehended a year ago. I am so glad and greatful for all that the Lord has done in my life, my marriage and my church. God is a God of Love, He loves us as we are but I am more greatful He doesn't leave us that way! Sometimes we only have to be willing to change, even when we don't know what that all means. But when we are willing He is the one who leads us in the way to go. My prayer has been "God please just get me out of your way." and He does, in every area I am willing to get out of His way. Thank you Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It never ceases to amaze me how fast the stinking calender moves, Is time being sped up or what??? Last week at WM's Julieanne reminded me how long it has been since I have posted anything on this blog (thank Julie), all I can say is sorry. Life as been better to say the least. I know that God never gives us more than we can handle... I must be super woman! Sick of it too I might add! any hoo, The Ladies the Yahweh Sisterhood are going to start doing a study called " The Way Of Agape" it is going to be very beneficial to all who participate because we truly can never exhaust the Love of God and to be honest I think a refresher course is what the Savior ordered! I look forward to what God has in store for us!

My sisters, I am soooo neglectful, I knew it had been awhile since I posted anything but OY VEY! this is bad....so very sorry.
So now that MAY is almost over, I hope that the Spring months have been good to everyone. There have been lots of ups and downs for me and my family. I am sure we are not the only ones. Our Lord continues to meet our needs each and every day, what ever that may be! We need only to trust Him that He is who He says He is! And that He will do what He said He will do! Right?! Right!

I can not believe how fast the pages on the ca lander are flipping. WOW! Life has been pretty interesting to say the least. I don't really have the energy to go into any of it but I know God is in control!

God is Good

The past two years I have really learned some important life lessons. I have been praying for a financial miracle for about 2 years. Well let me tell you, God had way more in store than just a financial miracle. What I know now it this, had God supplied us with a financial miracle NOTHING would have changed in my life or the life of my family. What God did instead of blessing us with money is...Save my baby boy, set my husband free from bondage's that will actually end up being a financial miracle! He set me free from fear and gave me a strength that I forgot I had and just totally blessed me more than I could imagine and gave me a New relationship with Him, with my Husband, and with my Children. So I guess I have said all that to say this, When we pray rest a sure He will provide our needs needs even when we don't fully understand what it is we need.

OK so I haven't been so good about keeping this thing updated...I have a million excuses! Sorry.
I hope everyone has made it through the Holiday Season in one piece. It is my hope and prayer the each person who reads this is blessed abundantly, Physically, Spiritually and Financially in the New Year!
There is a change in plans for Saturday's Women's Ministry meeting, Julia had to work so she will not be speaking but we are looking forward to having her speak in February. I have been working on a bible study called "Managing Your Emotions" I may share some of that because dear Sisters there is some good stuff in this study. I think this is a topic that could never really be exhausted, we are emotional creatures, ask any male they will agree! It is a daily "Chore" to keep our emotions in check and not fly by the seat of our pants and just do or say what ever our heart tells us, amen??
I hope you will come out on Saturday, I think this will be a worthy topic of discussion. Bring a friend and bring a yummy dish because we all enjoy each others cooking!!!

One Week to Christmas!

Hello My Dear Sisters!,
I want to take just a second to wish everyone reading this the Merriest Christmas and a Blessed New Year, God has been more than good to me this year and I am truly thankful, I just wish It hasn't gone so fast. I am truly looking forward to the coming year. Last year at this time I felt HOPE, it was good because I hadn't felt it in awhile, It has been a good year for me and my family, God has done so very much in us, now don't get me wrong, Life didn't just instantly "improve", It actually got worse before it got better BUT GOD never dropped me off in the middle of no where, His grace was more than sufficient and His wisdom lead me through. If you are having struggles in your life, in your marriage, in your finances, in your day to day stuff let me just encourage you to totally lean on, rely in and Trust The LORD! If you need wisdom, ask Him for it, he is faithful to teach you whatever it is you need to know. God has given us the most valuable gift we will ever receive...LOVE. Remember, when it comes to eternity LOVE is the only thing that really matters. If we Love HIM, That we Love HIM, How we Love each other and That we Love each other. LOVE is what we leave this world with, not money or even family but LOVE!

Well Dear Sisters it is my hope to be able to keep this blog more current, I have had Internet issues, but I think I am done with that. We use to have our Internet through satellite, but now we have DSL and I have to say so far I am so happy with it, It is so fast compared to what we were dealing with !!!
I just want to mention that collections are still being received for our family in need, If you want to give please see me or you can see Pastor Bill. Sunday is the deadline. I have to go make dinner but I will be back again soon.

What a Week!

I have not been able to get online for the past week, which really was the pits because I enjoy posting on this blog, I hope all who are reading this had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Now it is officially the Christmas season!! I love it! I am so excited about what God is doing in the lives of my dear sisters and our families. I would like to ask a thought provoking question...When the "storms" of life are raging do you ask "Why God Why?" or do you ask "What is the lesson you have for me to learn?" I have been guilty of asking God, WHY? I never really got a clear answer! (go figure!) But when, in the very midst of the storm I asked God about the lesson HE had for me to learn, something changed...oh the storm didn't suddenly stop and the sun started to shine, No, in fact I think it was more like someone wrapped me in a good rain coat, gave me rain boots and an umbrella and NEVER once have I been lost in the storm. No one said being a follower of Christ was going to be easy, we all know that...right? But God has his plan and we simply have to TRUST. Remember our ways are not HIS ways and our thoughts are not HIS thoughts. No Matter what "storm" is raging around you God is in control.

Dear Sisters, It has come to my attention that there is a family in our body who as Christmas is quickly approaching has need. As the Women's Ministry Coordinator I think we could take this as a "Special Project" and bless this family. Let me remind you, you will not know who this family is in order to respect their privacy BUT we want to be a blessing, it is also my intention to give in secret, we don't want to pat ourselves on the back. They serve us in church over and over and over. Jesus said "it is more blessed to give than to receive" ANYTHING you can do will be helpful. We would like to take the next 2 weeks to collect for them and then give them time to prepare for their Christmas celebration. Please be prayerful about this. All my love to you. Kathy

The Love of God. I the book of Epesians chapter 1 it says that before God laid the foundation of the world, He had us in mind, Us, as the focus of HIS love to be made whole and holy by His Love. Because of the great love God has for us, He cleansed us by the blood of Jesus, making us holy by His Grace. We CAN NOT earn His forgivess or become holy through our works. It is by grace through faith in Jesus that we are made righteous. However, God has created us to do good works, things He prepared us in advance for us to do. So what does this mean in practical terms? Well I think first we have to accept the fact that God Loved us so much that HE GAVE His only begotten/ conceived SON that those who believe that would not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 (Kathy's Paraphase) What I have learned in my walk with the Lord is that we must receive His Love, let it fill you to overflowing and then let it flow out to others, abundantly... to everyone, not just our friends or our family but to the unloveable, the poor, the weak, you get the idea. Remember, we come into this world with no material possesions and we leave this world with no material possesions BUT what we DO take with us is LOVE, It matters how we love each other. God Is love. Love covers a multitude of sin.
